About Watford Town Centre BID
Watford Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) is a business-led, non-profit organisation representing over 400 businesses across retail, hospitality, leisure and professional services within the town centre. Established in 2016, the BID works in partnership with local stakeholders to drive economic growth, enhance the town centre environment and promote Watford as a vibrant destination.
Funded by levy-paying businesses, the BID delivers a focused programme of initiatives designed to increase footfall, improve safety, and support business success. Its work spans high-impact marketing campaigns and large-scale events, public realm improvements, crime reduction and improved safety initiatives, and business support services including training, networking and town centre performance insights.
The organisation has a proven track record, having successfully delivered two five-year terms since inception. In 2025, Watford Town Centre BID secured a strong mandate for a third term (2026–2031), with 92% of voting businesses in favour. This next phase will see over £3 million of investment into the town centre, guided by five key priorities: enhancing the town centre experience, promoting Watford, supporting business growth, championing collaboration, and embracing sustainability and innovation.
Through collaboration, investment and a clear business led approach, Watford Town Centre BID continues to play a vital role in shaping a dynamic, welcoming and commercially successful town centre.
