When 2 colleagues undertook a review of the flooring and furniture sectors of the insurance market they were working in they quickly decided that with 400,000 tonnes of carpeting and, a staggering 670,000 tonnes of furniture discarded annually and, the UK rapidly running out of landfill sites there had to be a better way!

A passionate belief in restoration, recycling and re-use before replacement led us to believe we could, and should change things and, in 2022 The Restoration Group was established to do just that.

Using the talents of localised skilled technicians throughout the UK to restore wherever possible and national charities to collect and upcycle when restoration isn’t an option, furniture waste has taken on a whole new meaning. Additionally, specialist contractors are now either disposing of carpets at ethical recycling units or, they are delivered to ‘waste to energy’ plants.

This new, fresh and sustainable practice is certainly making a small but significant difference.
