We entered the Town and County Business Champions for Leicestershire in 2021 with no expectations of winning.

But to our amazement and surprise we did win!

Since then, we have been immortalised by our local yarn bomber, Syston Knitting Banxy (SKB) who created a postbox topper of my PA Avis and myself who had accompanied me to the dinner in London.

It has been a difficult time for all small businesses including ours as we rely on other businesses to advertise with us and enable the newspaper to be printed.

We believe that the recognition we have gained from winning this award has helped us to get through last year as a lot of our regular advertisers were closed due to the restrictions so consequently our revenue stream was hit quite severely. But we have been able to maintain a presence in the community, which our readership and businesses have said they appreciate.

As we come out the other side of this unprecedented time and with the award showing prominently on our publication, website, email etc it is helping us to recover, and we are starting to see some growth and hope soon we will be back to where we were before the pandemic hit.

We are so grateful to the Town and County Business Champions for helping us survive this very difficult time and thank them for recognising all our work within our community.

I would recommend anyone to enter as you just never know!
