The Cedar House Support Group is a dedicated charity providing a vital lifeline for parents navigating the complexities of prenatal and postnatal depression (PND) and anxiety. Founded back in 2004 by specialist counsellor Liz Wise—alongside a mother she supported through recovery—the organisation was born out of a shared understanding of how deeply debilitating and isolating maternal mental illness can be.

While the charity primarily delivers its weekly support groups across Surrey and London, its broader mission extends across the whole of the UK, as the groups can be accessed on line as well as face to face. Through national advocacy, active campaigning for better maternal mental health services, and providing valuable online resources, the organisation works tirelessly to ensure that parents all across the country can access guidance. Where groups run, they offer a safe, relaxed, welcoming, and strictly confidential space for mothers to openly share their personal experiences.

Every session is facilitated by Liz Wise, who brings an empathetic, non-judgemental, person centred counselling approach alongside her own personal experience with PND. Grounded in humanistic principles, the groups focus entirely on the unique, lived experience of each mother, providing a deeply supportive, empowering, and client-focused environment.

To ensure absolute accessibility, the charity provides free crèche facilities during its face-to-face meetings so mothers can engage fully without worrying about childcare barriers. Through compassionate group therapy, educational outreach, and national campaigning, The Cedar House Support Group continues to fulfil its vital mission: ensuring no parent in the UK has to suffer alone or in silence, ultimately helping families find their true path to full recovery.
