Northampton Saints History

Founded in 1880 by Reverend Samuel Wathen Wigg, Northampton Saints began as a local initiative to engage young boys. Over time, the team evolved into a rugby powerhouse, earning their nickname, ‘Saints,’ in the 1890s. With a storied history, the club has consistently competed at the highest level of English and European rugby, amassing a loyal and passionate fan base.

Key achievements include their English Premiership titles in 2014 and 2024, a European Champions Cup victory in 2000, and multiple European Challenge Cup wins. Saints have also been a launching pad for several international stars.
