National Building and Construction Awards
Building on your Success:
Entering an award is fantastic, but that’s not the end of the process. There are a number of things that you can do to increase the visibility of your business, even if you don’t win an award.
Firstly, if you become a finalist in a category, then shout about it. This is a wonderful achievement and needs to be celebrated. Mention it to your clients, talk about it on social media, and write a press release for your media contacts. However you do it, get the word out there. A number of awards will have special ‘badges’ etc that you can use on social media and email signatures. Ask the question of the organisers, and if they have them then use them liberally in your business communications.
Secondly, try and connect with other finalists. These may be your competitors, they may be your friends, you may not know them at all, but it’s important to make that connection. Build up a rapport and then meet up with them on the night. You may look to them for referrals or collaborations down the line, and it’s nice to have that pre-existing relationship with people.
And, finally, if you do win, or are runner-up then build on that. Awards aren’t just about winning, and you can build a huge amount of momentum for yourself and your business even if you’re a runner-up/finalist. If you can market your success well, then clients/potential clients will notice that and may want to work with you in the future.
Winning isn’t everything – it’s how you build on solid foundations that matters.
